Tinubu meets Wike, four others

President Bola Tinubu on Thursday met with members of the Integrity Group or G5 at the Aso Villa, in Abuja. Though details of the meeting was not made public, those at the meeting are Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo state as well as former Governors Nyesom Wike (Rivers), Samuel Ortom (Benue), Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia), and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu). The current governor of Enugu State, Peter Mbah was also present.

Recall that the integrity group, had become formidable and shaped the political direction of the Country, after the demand for the sack of the then National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Iyorchia Ayu, for a southern replacement as a precondition to support the presidential ambition of the party’s flag bearer, Atiku Abubakar in the February 25 poll took centre stage.

Both Atiku and Ayu called the then governors’ bluff and did not succumb to their demands in the just-concluded elections. It is however on record that Makinde and Wike reportedly played supportive roles to ensure Tinubu’s victory at the polls.

Tinubu had met with Wike and Makinde some times since his election and inauguration, and had last Friday, met again with Wike and Makinde alongside James Ibori, former governor of Delta James Ibori.
