The Senator representing Rivers South East Senatorial District, Senator Barry Mpigi, has pledged to support the Rives State COVID-19 task force with N8.5million.
Over the weekend, the Senator said the gesture is to support the measures taken by the state government to curtail the spread of the deadly virus.
While commending Governor Nyesom Wike for taking proactive measures to stop the spread of the virus, he appealed to the people of the South East Senatorial District, especially the people of Eleme and Ogali, not to panic, due to the presence of an isolation centre, but take precautionary measures against being infected with the coronavirus.
He stressed that the citing of the isolation cente in the area, could open up opportunities for development and pledged to support the COVID-19 team in the state with N5 million, while N3.5million would be distributed across the 7 Local Government Areas that make up the Senatorial District.
He said the donation of N500,000 will be formally handed over to the COVID-19 task force in each of the 7 LGAs, and N5nillion to the State task force on Monday, March 30, 2020.
