The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has appointed Senate President, Bukola Saraki, as the national leader of the party.
The decision was reached during the NEC meeting on Thursday.
Saraki who is the highest office holder in the party at the moment, will replace his deputy, Senator Ike Ekwerenmadu, who held the position until his defection to the PDP.
Saraki, Rabiu Kwankwaso, Sokoto State governor Aminu Tambuwal and Benue State governor Samuel Ortom were all present at the meeting.
The meeting also had key figures in the PDP, including governors, lawmakers and some of the presidential aspirants
