The Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) will cancel any political party’s primary elections that the commission did not supervise.
The Secretary to the Commission, Mr. Douglas W. Chukwu, revealed this while reacting to a question raised by a member of a political party during a stakeholders meeting held at Government Secondary School, Emuoha, in Emuoha Local Government Area.
According to the Secretary, the commission will make sure that names of candidates submitted by political parties to the commission are the wish of the people, through valid primaries.
Earlier in his speech, Mr. Chukwu commended the people of Emuoha for their large turnout and called on them to get their Permanent Voter’s Card ready and vote any credible candidates that can give them joy and bring development to the area.
He said that, RSIEC as constituted at present has people of high integrity that will conduct, a very credible, free and fair LGA elections noting that the commission will give all political parties a level playing ground for the election.
In their respective speeches, the CTC Chairman of EMOLGA, Hon. GodspowerNnwoka, Permanent Secretary Ministry of Local Government Affairs, and Chief. Longinus Agbovu called on the good people of EMOLGA, to maintain their high sense of integrity and shun any politicians who want to induce them to cause problems during and after the elections.
