Rivers women make  critical political statements in Omuma 

In the early hours of yesterday, Saturday 14th, women took the message of Siminalayi Fubara, to Omuma Local Government Area in Rivers State, where hundreds of women participated in Omuma Women Solidarity walk for SIM.

The Organiser of the walk, Hon. Mrs. Victoria Chikeka who is a female stakeholder and the elder sister of the Lawmaker representing Etche/ Omuma Federal Constituency, Hon. Kelechi Nwogu., had an array of female political leaders and wives of Top government functionaries join in the Sensitization walk.

Chikeka also called Ada Omuma, said a vote for Fubara will not be regretted because he is accessible and praised the women of Omuma LGA for participating despite having their market day coincide with the walk.

The Commissioner for Culture, and Deputy Director Directorate for Mobilization (Women) Mrs. Tonye Briggs Oniyide, in her solidarity speech, urged women to participate fully in the forthcoming Elections due to their numerical strength. Oniyide said Fubara’s victory will guarantee the continuous development of the State, because he has all it takes to build on the legacies of the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike.

In his remarks, the Chairman of Omuma LGA, Rt. Hon. Chisom Nwaiwu, said Sim is a project which has started before now and promised to galvanize support for the party’s govenroship candidate Siminalayi Fubara.

He said Fubara will not just be a Governor for Rivers state but he is going to be the Governor of omuma.

He assured that the message of Sim has spread to the nooks and crannies of the LGA, ‘because the House of Representatives candidate kelechi Nwogu is for SIM and Omuma is for SIM.’

He thanked his wife  Mrs. Favour  Nwaiwu for participating and declared the walk as the best for now.

On her part, former Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Pastor (Mrs.) Nancy Nwankwo,  spoke on voter education . A practical guide was given to the women on how to vote for all the candidates of the party.  She urged them to spread the word and teach others on the right way to vote.

Also speaking, the wife of the State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party ,PDP,  Ambassador Desmond Akawor, Her Excellency Mrs Ene Akawor  expressed appreciation to the women for coming out en masse. She said the faces on the posters held by the women are those of the govenroship and deputy Governorship candidates.

Akawor stressed that Fubara will win the forthcoming Elections because he has the required quality and thanked Governor Wike for making the right choice.  

Speaking further, she expressed her optimism that Fubara will improve on the gains of Wike’s administration and urged women to  collect their Permanent Voters Cards, PVCs, which is their power.

She opined that PDP will win the forthcoming Elections in February and March, stressing that  women should come out in their numbers on election day to vote for the party with the umbrella symbol, so that Fubara and all other candidates of  the party will win the election.

Akawor reiterated that Fubara will provide Infrastructure for the people and also sustain the peaceful and secure environment provided by the Wike led administration, and expressed appreciation to the council Chairman for his support for women in omuma.

Her Royal Majesty, Dame Victoria Awuse, the wife of the Political bulldozer His Royal Highness, Chief Sergeant Awuse, noted that the women are aware of the  essence of the walk which is to keep fit and healthy, because health is wealth.  She observed that a sick man can not participate in any election, which has made it imperative  for women to engage in healthy practices.

She noted that women pass through stress due to the numerous tasks performed at home and admonished them to make out  time to exercise in order to keep fit to enable them participate in the general elections and also secure their positions in their homes by looking healthy and beautiful for their husbands. 

In her solidarity speech, the PDP State woman leader, Hon. Miriam Ogbonna,  said PDP shall win again and urged the PDP unit women leaders to move from house to house to spread the word about the election and hold the PDP unit women meeting.

She urged the unit coordinators to ensure that PVCs are collected in readiness for the elections.

In her vote of thanks, Mrs. Sotonye Toby Fulton, thanked the chairman for his support and the women for participating, stressing that “the statement made by omuma women is loud. “

Female dignitaries who participated in the walk include the wife of the Chief of Staff, Mrs. Woke, the  Wife of the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Mrs. Ikuinyi Owaji Ibani, the Wife of the Head of Service, Dr. Martilda Rufus Godwin, the Deputy Director Directorate for Mobilization (Women) Engr. Mrs. Alali Irimagha, Hon. Gloria Boma Harry and  top members of New Rivers  Women.
