As the Campaigns for the Governorship and State House of Assembly intensify, indications have emerged that women in rural communities will be engaged by the Rivers PDP Women Directorate.
This was disclosed yesterday, during a crucial meeting of the Rivers PDP Women Mobilization Directorate at the Secretariat of The Consolidation of the New Rivers Vision Campaign Council in Port Harcourt .
Addressing members of the expanded Directorate which comprise women from the 23 Local Government Areas, Hon. Tonye Briggs Oniyide, who is the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism and doubles as the Deputy Director of the Women Directorate, said the visit to the various markets at the rural areas is very necessary, to afford the women the opportunity to have first hand information about the Governorship candidate of the Party, Sir Siminalayi Fubara and his Deputy, Prof. Ngo Odu.
She said due to the deadline on campaigns, the market visit will hold at selected LGAs across the Senatorial Districts between Monday 6th and Wednesday 8th March. Noting that gift items and Sensitization materials will be distributed to market women during each visit.
She further stated that the visit will kickoff immediately after the Senatorial prayer and fasting program on Monday. Also speaking, another Deputy Director of the Rivers PDP Women Directorate, Mrs. Alali Irimagha, expressed optimism that the market Sensitization visit will avail the women the avenue to have more information about the PDP Governorship candidate Sir Fubara that will result in making the right decision during the polls.
