To forestall delays in the electoral process, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, in Rivers state, has distributed sensitive materials for the Governorship and State House of Assembly elections, to 10 Local Government Areas, Africa Update reports.
INEC Officials, Security agencies, party Collation agents including Election observers inspected the ballot papers and result sheets at the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN Headquarters in Port Harcourt today.
Speaking during the inspection and distribution of the election materials, the INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner in the state, Johnson Alalibo said the materials are moved ahead of time to avoid a repeat of some logistic problems encountered during the Presidential and National Assembly elections.
He stated that Election materials for the remaining 13 LGAs will be distributed Tomorrow. The LGAs where election materials have been dispatched are: Bonny, Asari-Toru, Akuku-Toru, Degema, Port-Harcourt, Obio-Akpor, Ahoada-West, Ahoada-East, Abua/Odual, and Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni.
The remaining LGAs are: Opobo Nkoro, Khana, Gokana, Tai, Eleme, Oyigbo, Andoni, Ikwerre, Emuoha, Etche, Omuma, Ogu/ Bolo and Okrika.
