Concerned about the mental health of the citizenry, a group of Non-Governmental organisations in Rivers State known as Coalition of Eastern Non-Govermental Organisations (CENGOS) – Rivers State has embarked on a one day road walk to sensitive the people on the need to take their mental health seriously and how to watch our for mental health related issues.
Speaking after the road walk which commenced at the Oroworukwo Town Hall to surrounding communities of the Rivers State University in Port Harcourt, the State Co-Ordinator of CENGOS, Mrs. Dumka David said the road walk was geared towards creating awareness among the people about their mental health status.
According to Mrs. David, the project is targeted at orphans, vulnerable children, Youths and communities leaders who will be tutored on mental health issues, interpersonal skills, stigmatization and how they can identify early symptoms of mental health issues.
