The Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) says the commission will use the voters register and not the card reader in the conduct of Saturday, 16 June, 2018 Local Government Council elections.
The Commissioner in charge of Public Affairs and Civic Education revealed this at a stakeholders meeting held at Saakpenwa headquarters of Tai LGA organized by RSIEC. The Commissioner represented by the Director Public Affairs/Civic Education, Mrs. Menney-Amgbare Sarah Hope said that from the timetable and election guideline as released by the commission, the LGA election will hold as stipulated and that RSIEC will abide by it in totality and urged the people of Tai to get their Permanent Voter’s Card ( PVC) ready.
In their respective speeches, His Royal Highness, Samuel L. A Nnee JP, the Divisional Police Officer, Tai Ogunsola Segun, Peter-Kio, (DO) Civil Defence Tai Division, representative of the Federal Road Safety Corp, Livinus Ibe and Mrs. Charity God’s child of National Orientation Agency, called on the electorate and politicians in Tai to shun violence and join hands in making the LGA polls in Tai a crime free one.
