Nigeria’s ambassador to the Netherlands, Oji Ngofa says his aspiration to contest the south-east senatorial district position under the APC is in furtherance of his desire to seek solution to the problems affecting Ogonis.

Oji made this known during a consultation visit to the leadership of the Ken Saro-Wiwa Associate. He assured the group that he will work in the interest of all the people in the south-east senatorial district and also work against self centered politicians.

He promised to give robust representation and enact laws that will give back agitation of the Ogoni people and the mandate they deserve.

“The senate is a huge platform with which anybody who is serious can project the problems of his people to the National community, that is, the Nigerian community.

This not the time to reduce our senate to politicians who are mere business people and transactional in their nature of politics.

This is the time for us to project people that understand the issues, that have global experience, that you speak in the National Assembly and people will listen to you and listen to the problems of your people.

My politics is driven by the fact that I believe that Politics must be an instrument of community development”, Oji stated.

In the meantime, the national coordinator of the Ken Saro-Wiwa Associates, Gani Togba has maintained that the people of Ogoni won’t partake in party politics and to that effect, his group is organizing a debate amongst candidates contending for various positions in Ogoni land in the 2019 election, so as to ensure that the right candidate emerges.

He also urged all Ogonis to unite in order to promote the growth of the region.
