Project Democracy, a political pressure group in Rivers State, has passed a vote of confidence on the Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike and urged him to present himself for the office of the President at the 2023 general election.
Addressing journalists at the end of the meeting on March 2, the President General of Project Democracy, Hon. Gloria Boma Harry, maintained that the call on Governor Wike to declare for the 2023 presidential race is important to salvage the country from the claws of bad governance.
According to her, it would be a disservice to the people of Nigeria, if Governor Wike refused to present himself to be elected as president in the 2023 election.
“After consultation as a group, we are calling on the Governor of Rivers State, His Excellency Chief Bar. Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, Wednesday 2nd March, 2022, to present himself to run for the highest office of the land, for the position of the President, Federal Republic of Nigeria.
“Having identified the sterling leadership qualities and dedication to the developmental strides of his people, we are compelling him to make himself available because Nigeria needs a man of his status at this perilous time of our history.
“We, therefore compel and plead with him to answer this call to service because he is the most qualified person for that position,” she added.
The group also launched the RE-NEW Nigeria Campaign, which according to them will save the country from the clutches of the All Progressives Congress APC. She said NEW which is an acronym for Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, symbolizes the need for Nigerians to experience the unique opportunity of entrusting the future of Nigeria into the hands of someone who has transformed the landscape and economy of Rivers State.
Harry, observed that the campaign has become imperative following years of systemic failure caused by the cluelessness of the APC led Federal Government.
She urged Nigerians to key into the campaign to ensure that their votes do not only count but that it counts for excellence and people oriented leadership.
