Presidential Election: Okrika APC leaders uncover shocking sinister plans by PDP to cause mayhem

As the countdown to the Presidential and National Assembly elections begin, prominent leaders of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Okrika chapter have raised alarm over alleged sinister plots by miscreants loyal to to Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to cause mayhem in the area.

This alarm, according to the leaders is to forestall the repeat of attacks that occurred in 2015, during the Presidential and Governorship campaign, where unknown thugs massacred several innocent citizens including a police corporal.

Excerpts of the press statement read to journalists at Okrika , on February 21, by the South South APC Zonal Secretary, David Okumgba, reads

PRESS CONFERENCE ORGANISED BY APC OKRIKA ON THE GRAND PLOT BY MISCREANTS LOYAL TO THE PEOPLES DEMOCRATIC PARTY, PDP, TO REENACT THE FEBRUARY, 2015 COORDINATED ATTACKS ON APC MEMBERS AND VOTERS IN OKRIKA LGA DURING THE RESCHEDULED PRESIDENTIAL AND NATIONAL ASSEMBLY ELECTIONS ON SATURDAY FEBRUARY 23, 2019.

The leadership of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Okrika Local Government Area, has uncovered sinister plots by the leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Okrika to unleash mayhem on APC members and innocent voters resident in the LGA.
We have received intelligence report and confirmed that the following have been planned for execution from today, Thursday, the 21st of February, 2019.
1. Distribution of the arms and ammunitions brought into the LGA over last weekend for the postponed elections.
2. The movement of thugs and cultists from Ondo, Bayelsa and other states into Okrika. From credible sources, we are aware that these individuals have been lodged in homes of top PDP leaders from the area.
3. House to house intimidation of voters and leaders of APC and all others they perceive will challenge their criminal activities.
4. They have planned to commence massive shooting from Friday night to inject fear and panic into the community and prevent voters from coming out to vote.
5. They have sent out a second proclamation to warn all voters who they perceive will not vote PDP to stay away from the polls.
6. They have concluded plans to station their gun boats at strategic locations to ensure that all the polling units in the riverine wards are hijacked at mid sea and results drawn and submitted for collation.
7. We have been reliably informed that these PDP leaders have acquired uniforms of POLICE, ARMY AND OTHER SECUIRTY AGENCIES, with the intention to use these uniforms to perpetuate their evil plans and portray these security agencies in bad light.
8. They have procured PVCs, which they intend to give to strangers, who are currently in Okrika ahead of the elections on Saturday, February 23, 2019.
9. It has also been confirmed that these thugs loyal to PDP will go from house to house to attack individuals and even attack national economic assets in the area.
10. We have it on good authority that monies have been paid to official of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, posted to Okrika and these officials have accepted to collude with the PDP in rigging the election.
11. They have concluded plans to storm and bomb all collation centers should their above plans fail to ensure the victory of PDP in Okrika.
Gentlemen of the press, these findings above may appear impossible but that is the sad reality of the situation in Okrika.
We urge all good citizens of Nigeria and well-meaning sons and daughters of Okrika to pause a while, and take a critical look at what happened to the APC in Okrika in 2015.
You will recall that APC Secretariat in Okrika was bombed twice, members of the party were prevented from campaigning or putting up the posters of candidates of the party, and on February 17, 2015 at the National School field, a full scale attack was launched during the APC Presidential and Gubernatorial campaign, where innocent citizens were massacred including a police corporal.
After that attack the PDP and its ‘army ‘ went from house to house to destroy the homes and properties of our members, over 20 cars were burnt.
It is with this ugly and frightening memory in mind that the entire members of APC met and resolved to hold this press conference to demand the following.
1. That the investigation which commenced February 17, 2015, be activated and concluded.
2 That our party’s petition of the imminent genocide and total breach of the peace in Okrika be given Urgent attention by relevant authorities.
3. The Commissioner of Police, Director DSS, GOC in charge of 6th Division Nigeria Army and President Muhammadu Buhari, should ensure that the above conspiracy is not executed in Okrika.
4. That the people of Okrika are given adequate security before, during and after the scheduled elections.
