PDP Caretaker Committee Inaugurated in Rivers State

In a strategic move to fortify the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) within the Niger Delta, the South-South Zonal Chairman, Hon. Emmanuel Ogidi, today formally inaugurated the Rivers State Caretaker Committee in the state capital.

Speaking during the ceremony, Hon. Ogidi expressed profound satisfaction that the party in Rivers remains a formidable force despite recent political turbulence. He noted that the PDP has demonstrated remarkable resilience in the face of “betrayals and defections,” asserting that the public’s continued faith in the party remains unshaken by “numerous half-truths and falsehoods.

The Zonal Chairman charged the newly minted committee, led by Chief Ogbam Ojimah, with the urgent task of party reconciliation. He urged the leadership to adopt an all-inclusive approach, ensuring every loyalist feels a sense of belonging as the party embarks on a rebuilding phase.

“I have every confidence in this committee’s ability to navigate the current political waters and restore the PDP to its full strength in Rivers State,” Hon. Ogidi remarked.

  • Rebuilding Efforts: Chief Ojimah vowed to commence “healing and rebuilding” within a party structure he described as having been “battered” across local tiers.
  • Total Dissolution: In a decisive move, the Chairman announced the immediate dissolution of all existing party structures across the 23 Local Government Areas and 319 Electoral Wards of Rivers State.
  • New Appointments: He assured the public that a new, more cohesive structure would be unveiled shortly to pilot the party’s affairs at the grassroots.

“We are grateful for this opportunity to serve,” Chief Ojimah stated. “Our primary focus is to ensure the PDP maintains her pride of place as the largest political party in Nigeria.”
