“My spirit has already left there…”~ Gov. Siminalayi Fubara

The suspended Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, has responded to recent calls for his reinstatement by prominent leaders and politicians. Speaking at the service of songs for the late Edwin Clark, a respected leader in the Pan-Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF), Fubara indicated a detachment from his former office.

His remarks followed speeches delivered by various dignitaries at the event on Sunday, who collectively condemned the declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers State and the suspension of Governor Fubara, his deputy, and members of the State House of Assembly.

However, in his address, the suspended governor appeared to distance himself from the sentiments expressed by the leaders.

He stated, “Not everything is by Oshogbe. Do you even know if I want to go back there? My spirit has already left there.” He characterised the leaders’ expressions of disapproval regarding his suspension and the state of emergency as “their personal opinions.”
