INEC denies resumption of Voter Registration, dismisses false reports

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has refuted circulating reports claiming the commission is set to resume the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) and the replacement of lost Permanent Voters’ Cards (PVCs) on May 27th, 2025.

Rotimi Oyekanmi, Chief Press Secretary to the INEC Chairman, addressed the misinformation in a statement released Tuesday night. “The attention of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has been drawn to a misleading report making the rounds that we will resume the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) and replacement of lost Permanent Voters’ Cards (PVCs) on 27th May 2025,” Oyekanmi stated.

He unequivocally declared the report to be false. “The report is untrue. The Commission has not announced any resumption date for the CVR. We appeal to the public to disregard the false narrative,” he emphasized.
