GDI is a mass movement with a purposeful drive ~ Engr Samuel Nwanosike

The Chairman of Ikwerre local government area of Rivers State, Hon. Engr. Samuel Nwanosike JP has described Grassroots Development Initiative, GDI as a formidable organization with a strong determination to attract the mass of the polity into its fold. The enigmatic council boss made this declaration at the event of the official verification and sensitization exercise of the wards and Local Government executives in the area which took place at the premises of council Secretariat complex, Isiokpo on Thursday, December 24, 2020.

Hon. Engr. Samuel Nwanosike , who is an erudite grassroots politician and mercurial mobilizer, commended the Leadership of the body for its resilience in promoting the ideology of the organization which also represents the vision of the founder and governor of the state, Chief (Barr.) Nyesom Ezenwo Wike. According to him, “Fear not for God is with us. The GDI you planted is now an iroko tree that has blossomed to overwhelm all other trees. It is now a household name because we have dedicated members. I am very proud to tell you that in Ikwerre LGA, GDI remains unshakable.

He went on to commend the political sagacity of Gov. Nyesom Ezenwo Some, describing him as a political maestro who must be encouraged to continue with his meteoric performance beyond the state. In his words, “When in 2013 we said that Chief (Barr.) Nyesom Ezenwo Wike will succeed Rotimi Amaechi as the governor of the state, no one believed it but now we have been vindicated and he is a man who has really proven his mettle. We are strongly ready to support and encourage him continue with his winning streaks beyond the state and 2023.

For this we are calling on the political iroko, the governor of Rivers, His Excellency, Chief (Barr.) Ezenwo Nyesom Wike to roll out his weight and contest in the 2023 Presidential election and I want to promise him that GDI is ready to marshal every resolve to the success of the project”. Speaking at the occasion, the President General of the organization, Chief (Hon.) Bright Amewhule JP expressed satisfaction with the performance of Hon. Engr. Samuel Nwanosike in Ikwerre LGA, explaining that the exercise was aimed at identifying the commitment leadership of the body in the various wards and local government areas across the country as well as shore up members and expressed satisfaction with the results he is getting.

This programme is aimed at physically identifying the leadership of our grassroot because we want to know how truly committed our members are, and I am very happy to see that our members are really showing true commitment to the GDI cause. I am very happy that the people of Ikwerre LGA have continually given overwhelming support to our visionary principal, the Executive governor of Rivers State, Chief (Barr.) Nyesom Ezenwo Wike and with what I am seeing, we all certainly do not want to lose Mr. Project politically so soon “, he stated. The GDI President General went on to frown at that obnoxious actions of some members who he said rose to political relevance through the GDI but have surreptitiously chosen to abdicate from their loyalties to the body and support for the leadership of Engr. Samuel Nwanosike, describing such as regrettable.

Hon. Amewhule, who gave the Ikwerre council boss a pat on the back for his giant strides at the council, went on to explain that the perceived reasons for the snorty actions of the individuals is their frustration that the Ikwerre council boss has outperformed their expectations by showing deep capacity in effectively administering the area through realistic programmes and projects. In his words, ” I have observed that a pocket of individuals are absent in today’s occasion because of their personal interest. This act, is a show of brazen disrespect to GDI. It also shows a sign of frustration against the giant strides so far achieved by our own brother,Hon. (Engr.) Samuel Nwanosike in the council. The truth is they do not have the capacity to uplift the area in any way and now that Nwanosike has done it, shame has not allowed them to venture in. You, Hon. Engr. Samuel Nwanosike must remain here until your second tenure is over”.

Earlier in his address, the Coordinator, Ikwerre local government area of the organization, Hon. Charles Wobodo thanked the President General of GDI for embarking on the exercise, explaining that GDI in the area has remained strong because the Executive and entire members of the body have continually remained exceedingly faithful to the organization. According to him, “GDI in Ikwerre local government area has never taken a back step since its inception. GDI has continuously remained strong because the Executive and members have obediently remained faithful to the cause of the organization. We have never had any decampee hence we are here to prove to you that we remain united and strong because we believe in supporting our own”. The highlight of the event was the physical verification exercise of the wards and LGA executives of the organization in Ikwerre LGA by an independent team instituted by the apex leadership of the body. Present at the event included the Vice Chairman of the Council, Hon. (Mrs.) Rejoice Joy Nyenwe, the Leader of Ikwerre Legislative Assembly, Hon. Ndubuisi Tasie, the PDP Chairman, Ikwerre LGA, Hon. Dennis Amadi, the GDI coordinator, North America, Prof. Prince Ordu among others
