Following heightened political activities towards the 2023 general elections, the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) standard bearer in Rivers State, Sir Siminalayi Fubara has asked Rivers people to obtain their permanent voters card (PVC) to vote in their choice candidate in the forthcoming elections and not fight.
Fubara declared that one needs not to fight when God is involved, stressing that Rivers people have the capacity of peacefully voting in their leaders based on development indicators on ground.
The gubernatorial candidate at the PVC sensitisation rally put together by the Ikwerre local government chapter of the Grassroots Development Initiatives (GDI) on Sunday, July 10, 2022 at Igwuruta noted that GDI is the soul of every other support group for PDP in the state, and urged all such organisations to align with the pressure group.
He pleaded with the people to exercise restrain from campaigning as there is designated period for that, which he assured will be adequately utilised to mobilise the people when the time comes, saying the PVC sensitisation is part of early preparation for the 2023 general elections.
Fubara further enjoined the people to continue to pray for and support Gov. Nyesom Wike whom God has used to do great things for the state.
Speaking also at the event were some party big wigs, state officials and stakeholders which included the State Chairman of the PDP, Amb. Desmond Akawo, Speaker of Rivers State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Ikuinyi-Owaji Ibani, President General of GDI, Bright Amewhule, Commissioner of Education, Prof. Prince Mmom, chairman of Ikwerre Local government area, Hon. Engr. Samuel Nwanosike, Rivers East Senatorial aspirant, Chief Allwell Onyesoh, and Hon. Boniface Emerengwa. They all spoke on the importance of the masses obtaining their PVC and making decisive decision through their votes.
The event saw the creme de la creme of political Stewarts across the state converging in Igwuruta for the GDI flag off of PVC sensitisation that will run across the 23 LGA of the state.
