The lawmaker representing Akuku/ Asari Toru Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, Boma Goodhead, has opened a can of worms against the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, Africa Update reports.
Goodhead, and another Lawmaker representing Andoni-Opobo-Nkoro Federal Constituency, Awaji-Inombek Abiante, took to the streets of Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, accompanied by a mammoth crowd to chide Wike, for allegedly unduly interfering in the governance of the State.
They called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to call the former Governor to order, vowing “never to fold their hands and watch the FCT Minister pocket Rivers State.”
Goodhead said: “The overwhelming number of people who came out today is an eloquent indication that Governor Sim has the backing of Rivers people. It was these people that gave Former Governor Wike his glory; now the glory is taken away from him by these same people with the help of God Almighty.
“Mr. President, Wike should stop boasting that he delivered you because that was never the case. The truth is, Wike failed in his Unit and Ward during the election. Wike should dare us if he is a man come 2027″,
“I want to send a clear message to the Federal Government of Nigeria.
“Tinubu believes that Wike delivered Rivers State to him but even Wike failed in his unit. He failed in his ward and even in his LGA.
“We are here to tell Ahmed Bola Tinubu to call Wike to order because the next time he comes into Rivers State to disturb the peace of the state we’ll not fold our hands and watch.
“Wike should come to Rivers State and we’ll show him what it means to hold Rivers State. We dare you, to come back to Rivers State again if you’re a man.”
She accused FCT Minister Wike, the Senator representing Rivers South East Senatorial District, Senator Barinada Mpigi, Hon. Dumnamene Dekor, representing Khana/Gokana Federal Constituency and Chairman of Ikwerre Local Government Area, Hon. Samuel Nwanosike of allegedly being responsible for the gruesome murder of DPO Bako Angbanshim.
Goodhead also accused Wike of reportedly siphoning ₦9Billion monthly from the revenue accrued to the state and eloping with $300,000 earmarked for Ogoni clean up. She reiterated in the viral video that she will attest to all her claims before the DSS whenever she is called to do so.
On his part, Abiante said: “There is always a price to be paid for liberty and that is, standing strong and firm.
“The governor decided after a structural integrity test that the Assembly Complex be given befitting chambers for legislative function and why that is ongoing an alternative has been provided.
“No king reigns forever, this is the time for another king who has been lawfully elected”, he said.
He also assured the Governor of the support of his constituents to provide development for the people of the State.
The visibly angry crowd chanted “Asawana, wana! Agba gbua, gbua!!”, as they marched through the streets on December 15th, in support of the Governor of Rivers State, Sir Siminalayi Fubara.
The walk which kicked off at the popular UTC Junction, Azikiwe Road in Port Harcourt transversed the length and breadth of Port Harcourt Aba Road, Government House Gate and down to the demolished section of the Rivers State House of Assembly Complex.
