Degema: Scores defect from PDP to APC during sensitization tour by Ibim Duke (photos)

The need for the All Progressives Congress, APC, to wrestle power from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the general election was the focal point of messages by cross section of stakeholders during a ward sensitization tour which held today (July 9) at Degema Local Government Area, (DELGA) of Rivers State.

Addressing party faithfuls at Ward 11, the DELGA APC Chairman, Ibim Dagogo Duke, admonished leaders of the Ward to mobilize citizens with the view to garner support for APC at the grassroots.

He assured them of adequate support from the Leader of the L.G.A, Dr. Sokonte Davies and the State leader, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Amaechi, in the provision of logistic support for the effective operation of the various wards within the local government area.

In their various remarks the leader of ward 11, Nwoyemi Anthony and the ward Chairman Isaki Donibo expressed commitment to the ideals of APC in ensuring victory at the polls.

In a related development, scores of PDP members defected to APC in ward 12, when the team stormed the ward.

Leader of the defectors, Henry Endeboh, narrating their ordeal in PDP, described PDP as a party that lacks capacity to provide meaningful leadership to Rivers people.

The leader of ward 12, Charles Agi and the ward 12 chairman,  Julius George, formally presented them to the DELGA APC chairman.

Highpoint of the visit was the mandate to the ward chairmen to constitute Ten member  Unit Exco committees in the various polling units in the ward.

Duke, said this was necessary to further strengthen the grassroots.

DELGA APC secretary, O Sanipe, Chief Levi Braide, DELGA APC woman leader, Madam Salome Benebo, Madam Eugenia Duke, Hon. Ibiba Braide, Hon Osaki Asobari, Hon. Okiye Evans and several others were also at the event.
