Degema Legislative Assembly gets principal officers

The 10th legislative Assembly of Degema Local Government Area, has been given the mandate to work in synergy with the Executive Arm to ensure that developmental ideas are on the front burner of the current administration.

Handing out the charge at the hallowed chamber of the Degema legislative Assembly, Chairman of Council, Dr. Agiriye Agba Harry, urged the Councillors to avoid rancour, that could lead to disruption of legislative activities, in the interest of the people of the Area.

He said; ” We are going to work very closely and I believe that we have a lot to work on for the benefit the LGA as much as possible. We should also try to avoid rancour so that we don’t start all these things about impeachment and we should work as a family.”

The Chairman, was at the Degema legislative Assembly on Friday October 11, to formally pronounce the 10th Assembly, to pave way for the Election of principal officers of the House.

The Councillor representing Ward 14 (Obuama), and Leader Pro-tempore,Tammy Ombo Harry, presided over the election of principal officers and at the end of the voting phase, the Councillors voted overwhelmingly for the key officers as follows: LEADER – FESTUS IBIGONI DICK (WARD 7 TOMBIA), DEPUTY LEADER – GARRICK IDAERESIN (WARD 11 DEGEMA 1 – CONSULATE), LEADER PRO-TEMPORE – TAMUNOEMI OMBO HARRY (WARD 14 OBUAMA), CHIEF WHIP – SOIBI ALFRED LAWSON (WARD 6 BAKANA), And MINORITY WHIP – FUNMI OMOI IKIRI (WARD 15 BUKUMA).

The Clerk of the House, Mrs. Stella Georgewill, subsequently administered the oath of office on the officers.
