Court sacks APC lawmaker

Lawmaker representing Ovia South West Constituency in Edo State House of Assembly and a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon. Sunday Aghedo has been sacked by the Court of Appeal sitting in Benin City.

It further ordered the immediate swearing in of another APC member, Mr. Godwin Adenomo.

The judgement was given sequel to a petition filed by Adenomo after the party primaries.  He had dragged the APC and the Committee that conducted the party primaries to court over imposition of the sacked lawmaker as the winner of the party primaries to the State House of Assembly in 2014.

Adenomo had claimed he won the primaries but was denied the party’s ticket which was given to his opponent.

An earlier judgement of the High Court, had mandated APC to conduct fresh primaries, but Adenomo rejected that ruling and headed for the appellate court.

In his reaction,  the sacked lawmaker said he was consulting with his lawyers for advice on available options.
