The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has announced the suspension of the Port Harcourt constituency 3 bye-election in Rivers State.
Making the announcement via a press statement today, the INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner in the state , Obo Effanga, said wide spread violence had marred the electoral process.
Earlier today, Africa update had published a report indicating that the All Progressives Congress, APC, had won the Port Harcourt Constituency 3 Rivers State House of Assembly bye-election, that report was a reflection of the outcome of activities at a polling Unit.
The APC candidate Dickens Worlu garnered 1,633 votes to defeat the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, who got 449 votes, in that ward.
Following the suspension of the by-election, it is uncertain what votes each candidate got but there are indications that APC won most units.
