The 2019 Governorship Candidate of the African Action Congress, Engr. Biokpomabo Awara has berated Gov. Nyesom Wike’s lack of clear cut strategy in the fight against the dreaded covid-19 pandemic, currently ravaging the globe.
Engr. Awara in a statement released questioned the rationale behind Gov. Wike’s demolition of business concerns all in the name of fighting an imagery enemy perceived to be Covid 19 in parts of the state as well, his deployment of curfew resulting to untold hardship on the masses.
Engr. Awara maintained that, the demolition of those hotel buildings in ELeme Local Government Area were not necessary, adding that Gov. Wike should have converted the properties into isolation centres instead of outright demolition, thereby, increasing the number of unemployed youths in the state.
He urged Gov. Wike to do a peer review of strategy deployed by his brother governors across the federation, on how best they’ve tackled the Covid 19 pandemic without causing the citizens more pain, adding that, the deployment of a macho style approach on Rivers people in the course of fighting the global Covid -19 pandemic that is ravaging the country, is totally not accepted by all men of good conscience.
Reacting to the unnecessary ongoing 24hrs curfews, he said even president Mohammadu Buhari during a nationwide broadcast relaxed the lock down nationwide but wondered why the people of Rivers will be left alone to face an untold hardship.
He urged Gov. Wike to focus more on administering good governance to the people and stop projecting Rivers state in bad light before the world.
