Newly appointed Commissioner dies mysteriously

The newly appointed Borno State Commissioner for Reconstruction, Rehabilitation, and Resettlement, Ibrahim Idriss Garba is dead.

He was said to have died in his sleep at his guest house at the 777 Housing Estate in Maiduguri, the state capital. Sources suspect that the late Commissioner was poisoned.

Investigations are said to be ongoing at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital.

Meanwhile, the Borno State Police Command has commenced investigation into the death of the Commissioner for Reconstruction, Rehabilitation and Resettlement, Ibrahim Idriss Garba. This was confirmed in a statement by spokesperson to the Governor, Isa Gusau.

The statement explained that the State Police Commissioner was at the house at which the Commissioner died in Maiduguri on Saturday.

State Governor, Professor Babagana Zulum, has received the news with shock and profound grief. He mourns alongside the late Commissioner’s family, other loved ones, friends, associates, and members of the State Executive Council. The Governor prayed that “May Allah forgive the Commissioner’s shortcomings, and admit him into Aljanna.”

The late Ibrahim Idriss Garba was Special Adviser on Special Projects to the Governor before he was elevated and appointed as Commissioner at the commencement of second term of Professor Zulum.
