Senator Magnus Abe says speculations about his likely defection from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to another political party are untrue.
Debunking this, the Senator representing Rivers South East Senatorial District, Abe disclosed to media practitioners during a chat at his residence in Port Harcourt today, that the ideology of change has kept him in APC.
He said ” This group called APC , is a group of Nigerians who came together to fight that things be done right in this country. So if I leave this group that is committed to doing things right, where will l go to?
“If I leave that place where the philosophy is that things should be done right. Where will l go to? If I don’t stay here and help make sure that things are done right. What am I doing here?
“So people should understand that what we are doing and what we will do is what APC is about, which is to work with Nigerians, to work with other Rivers people to see that things are done right. That is why we are in APC.
“So, there is absolutely no possibility that we will leave fighting for what is right to go to anywhere, where people don’t even believe that the right thing should be done.
“Here, here in APC, the foundation, the philosophy is that the right thing must be done. So nobody in APC can get up, stand up in public to say that I want to do the wrong thing. Â It is not possible.
“But in another party, people can do that and it will be accepted. But here nobody can do it. Nobody can do it in this party. That is why you keep hearing Nigerians say, oh they say change .
“Because people expect that there are standards in the APC, that do not exist anywhere else. ”
He stated further that the kind of change Nigerians want is the type people will fight for, “There is nothing that will make us leave expressing the belief that brought us here.
“We are here because this is where the right thing is done and we are also here to ensure that the right thing is done. We are here to contribute to making sure that the right thing is done. That is why we are in APC,” he emphaised .
