In a bid to foster unity amongst members of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Ogu/ Bolo Local Government Area of Rivers State, the leader of the party in the area, Dame (Hon.) Amb. Maureen Piribonemi Tamuno, has announced the appointment of Chief Eli Cox Amamina Afisoka, as acting leader of the party in Ogu/Bolo LGA.
In a well attended meeting on July 27, Dr Tamuno, said the decision to appoint Chief Afisoka, was done with the approval of the Minister of Transportation and Leader of the party in the State, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Amaechi. She urged all stakeholders to eschew rancour and acrimony, which will enhance peaceful coexistence in the Party.
In his remarks, Chief Amamina Afisoka, expressed gratitude to Rt. Hon. Amaechi and Dr. Tamuno, for the opportunity to serve the party, and pledged his total loyalty.
On his part, a former Ogu/Bolo Caretaker Council Chairmen and current Chairman Ogu/Bolo Council of Chiefs, Chief Francis Ada Ebenezer Onye called for unity amongst Party members adding that, it is only with a united front that APC can take over Governance in Rivers State and in the Local Government Areas. He admonished the acting leader to maintain an open door policy that will give all members equal opportunity in the system.
Also speaking, a Chieftain and former Council boss of Ogu/Bolo, Chief Lawrence Abiebiari called for a total commitment and brotherliness amongst Party members. The former House of Assembly candidate advised the acting leader Chief Amamina Afisoka to bring his wealth of experience to bear for the greater victory of the Party come 2023. The leadership used the opportunity to thank President Buhari for finding Her Excellency Dame Hon. Maureen Piribonemi Tamuno worthy of being appointed as an Ambassador.
They also thanked the leader of the Party in Rivers State, Rt. Hon. Chibhike Rotimi Amaechi for the choice of Dame Tamuno as an Ambassador. The forum was used to congratulate H. E. Dame Maureen Tamuno on her appointment as an Ambassador and wished her a fruitful tenure. Those present spoke in unison on the resolve to work together in order to achieve the desired goals for the party in the Country and Rivers State in particular.
