Former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Godswill Akpabio, has won the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket for Akwa Ibom north-west Senatorial District.
Akpabio who was in the race for the party’s Presidential ticket, withdrew to support Bola Tinubu, who eventually wom the APC presidential primary.
Udom Ekpoudom, a former deputy inspector-general of police (DIG), had initially won the APC Akwa Ibom north-west senatorial ticket. However, the primary was annulled over alleged irregularities.
Speaking on Thursday night after a rerun, Akpabio said no lawmaker has done what he did for the district between 2015 and 2019. Akpabio was first in the Senate between 2015 and 2019.
