Akawor attributes Court victory of Rivers PDP Exco to prayers of PDP faithful

The Rivers State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Ambassador Desmond Akawor has attributed the Abuja High Court verdict restraining PDP National from dissolving or removing the State Executive Council of the party to the prayers of members of the congregation at the party office.

He made the statement on Thursday, 21st Sept, 2023, while addressing the congregation during the biweekly Prayer and Worship program, tagged “One Hour with Jesus”.

Recall that Ambassador Desmond Akawor, the Rivers’ PDP Chairman, had sued the PDP National, including Dr Iyorchia Ayu ,the immediate past National Chairman, members of the National Working Committee (NWC) and National Executive Committee (NEC)) following threat to dissolve or remove them from office on allegations bothering on anti party activities.

Ambassador Akawor who observed that without their prayers the victory wouldn’t have been possible, urged party members to remain strong, loyal and faithful assuring that the State Patty Executive would continue to work for the overall interest of all members of the party.

He also told members of the State Exco to continue to work assiduously for the growth of the party, assuring that some of them would be encouraged to vie for Chairmanship position during the forthcoming local council election in the state.

Describing the victory as victory for democracy and the rule of law, Desmond Akawor dedicated it to God and resilient party members in the State.

Ambassador Akawor thanked worshippers for their prayerful support inspite of the obvious challenges, enjoining them to keep up the spirit.

Present at the event were the Deputy Chairman of PDP, Hon Aaron Chukwuemeka, PDP State Secretary, Dr Benibo George, other members of the State Executive, and a delegation of the Lord’s Chosen Charismatic Renewal Movement who came to worship with staff and worshippers at the Party Secretariat.
