2027: PDP Convenes 103rd National Executive Committee Meeting

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has formally announced that its 103rd National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting will take place on Monday, 4 May 2026.

The announcement was contained in a notice disseminated via the party’s official X handle on Saturday. The meeting is scheduled to commence at 2:00 pm and follows a significant internal administrative development within the nation’s main opposition party.

According to the notice, the summit was convened following a signed resolution by a two-thirds majority of the members of the National Executive Committee. This action was taken pursuant to the provisions of Section 31 of the Constitution of the Peoples Democratic Party, underscores the party’s adherence to its internal legal framework.

The party leadership emphasised that attendance at the 103rd meeting is strictly reserved for statutory members of the NEC. The expected assembly will include: State Governors elected on the PDP platform, Members of the National Assembly from the PDP caucus, Members of the Board of Trustees (BoT), State Chairmen and National Ex-officio members, Principal Officers of the National Assembly and former members of the National Working Committee (NWC), and Former Governors and other designated stakeholders.

The forthcoming meeting is viewed as a critical juncture for the party as it seeks to consolidate its ranks ahead of the next electoral cycle. The notice reaffirmed the NEC’s commitment to maintaining institutional stability and fostering a unified front.

“NEC remains dedicated to the stability, unity and success of the PDP, guided by the principles of internal democracy, party discipline, inclusivity of members and the pursuit of the wellbeing of the Nigerian people as we march to victory in the 2027 general elections,” the statement read.

As the political landscape continues to evolve, this gathering of the party’s highest decision-making body is expected to address pressing internal matters and refine the PDP’s strategy for its return to national prominence. The 103rd NEC meeting represents a formalised effort to ensure the party remains a formidable contender in the Nigerian democratic space.
