A coalition of women under the auspices of Rivers Women Unite for SIM held a unity walk in support of the gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Sir Siminalayi Fubara tagged “A SIMple Walk for Life”.
Speaking at the walk and women thanksgiving held on Saturday, November 26, 2022 in Opobo Kingdom the headquarters of Opobo/Nkoro local government area of Rivers State, Mrs. Sotonye Toby Fulton noted that beside being an exercise to keep fit, it was a clarion call to support the candidacy of Sir Siminalayi Fubara and all PDP candidates from state to national assembly as well as appreciating God for His goodness upon all the women in the LGA in particular and Rivers State in general.
She further called for the peaceful conduct of the 2023 general elections, stressing that it will be a landslide victory for Sir Siminalayi Fubara and Prof Ngozi Odu as women give them full support at the elections.
Also addressing the women, Her Majesty Queen Dame Victoria Sergeant Awuse, charged the women to be resolute in their support for the PDP and the governorship candidate, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, and further commended Gov. Nyesom Ezenwo Wike for his developmental strides across the state.
She hinted on the benefit of physical exercise which they adopted in supporting the PDP candidates in the area, praying for victory for all the candidates of the party.
According to her, ” As we unite for SIM as women, let’s get our PVCs and vote for Siminalayi Fubara as our next governor, he will recognise women.”
Also Queen Prudence Dandeson Douglas Jaja applauded the women for their doggedness and prayed for sustenance of their support for Sim Fubara.
In addition, a former member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Blessing Nsiegbe urged the women to be focused at the goal of delivering all PDP candidates in the forth coming election by making use of their PVC.
Dignitaries who graced the event and gave solidarity speeches include the Hon. (Dr.) Enyiada Cookey-Gam, Executive Chairman of Opobo/Nkoro LGA, Hon. Godwin Pepple, the Chairman of PDP in Opobo/Nkoro, Hon. Rejoice Nyekwe, Vice Chairman of Ikwerre Local Government Area and Amaopuorubo Felicia Pepple.
Also a special thanksgiving was conducted to round off the walk which also featured aerobics class by Coach Oge Aroma.
