Wike transforms Rivers State Secretariat to a death trap

The once beautiful edifice housing the work force in Rivers State has become a source of concern to visitors and workers whose lives now hang in the balance due to the dilapidated nature of the Secretariat complex.
A visit to the secretariat by Africa Update, revealed that some railings at the staircase had fallen off, while the lifts were nonfunctional due to faulty generators and cut off from the PHED power source.
A cross section of workers and visitors who spoke to Africa Update on conditions of anonymity purported that several persons have sustained injuries as a result of the dark stairways and expressed worries that fatalities might be recorded if something was not done to address the sorry state of facilities in the complex.
They stressed that human traffic to the floors above the first floors have reduced because it was difficult for individuals to walk the flight of stairs.
This development has also hindered the effective operation of offices on those floors thus impacting negatively on the civil service.
They condemned the neglect of the complex by the current administration, led by Nyesom Wike, reiterating that the complex was in a better state when his predecessor, who is the current Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Ameachi was in power.
You will recall that Wike has received several awards from organizations within and outside the state, for his achievement in infrastructural development. This visit to the secretariat complex has however created a huge contrast to the accolades showered on Wike as being the best performing governor in terms of development.
