Wike shutdown Bereton, Aladumo, 14 others

The Rivers State Government has ordered the immediate closure of 16 top notch private schools in Rivers State on Friday January 27, 2017.

Addressing owners of private schools during an interactive session at Government House , Port Harcourt, the State Governor Chief Nyesom Wike gave the directive following the absence of the owners of the blacklisted school at the meeting between the state government and private school operators.

He said the government would no longer tolerate disrespect for laws regarding the operation of private schools in the state.

” The government called for a meeting to discuss the way forward and you stay back,  when I am the one who gave you the approval. All the big big schools that collect millions of Naira and dollars . we will have to checkmate some of these things and make sure that things are done the right way. And these schools are not here. So commissioner suspend their approval” he stressed .

He further warned that schools without approval would be shutdown.

The affected schools are:

1. Charles Dale Memorial International school

2. Bereton Montessori School.

3. Aladumo High School

4. Beulahland standard school

5. Jephthah. Comprehensive school

6. Royal Girls’ Academy

7. Graceland international school

8. Groove school

9. Trinity international school

10. Brookstone secondary school

11. Uniport secondary school

12. Greenoak international school

13.St. Benedict immaculate Canadian academy school

14. Kateville international school

15. Goldsprings high school

16. Montessori international nursery/primary school.
