There seem to be an impending face-off between three political gladiators of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Rivers State.
Africa Update gathered that the State Governor Nyesom Wike and the Party Chairman, Bro Felix Obuah, have allegedly had a very frosty relationship recently, which they have tried to keep secret, but with the National Convention of the party less than a month away, staunch supporters of Wike, are uncertain if the alleged misunderstanding would be resolved before the said convention.
Though the crux of the matter was not disclosed, there are strong insinuations that it might purportedly be due to pressure from party members who are agitating for a riverine candidate, which they believe could turn around the dwindling fortunes of the party in 2019.
While Wike is hoping that the emergence of Chief Uche Secondus, as the National Chairman of the party, will further place him at a more advantageous position, he is also concerned about the stance of delegates, who are insisting that all candidates are voted for as against the proposal for a consensus candidate.
The coming weeks according to sources will determine the fate of the party as the possibility of Wike decamping to another party should Secondus not emerge as the National Chairman is also considered.
