Wike declares Friday as Public Holiday for Private, Public Sector workers

Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike has declared Friday, March 17, as a Public holiday, to enable workers in the Public and private sectors participate in the March 18th Elections.

Wike made the disclosure on Thursday, March 16, while addressing Rivers people in a statewide broadcast ahead of the Governorship and State House of Assembly elections.

His words: “I hereby declare Friday, March 17, 2023, as a public holiday to enable all private and public sector workers to travel to their communities and vote in their polling units.

‘Finally, I thank the people of Rivers State for your prayers, support, and cooperation since we took over the levers of governance.

‘Please, come out and vote en masse for the PDP on the 18th of March, 2019. It is your civil duty and opportunity to constitute the next government and consolidate the State’s progress.’

In the same vein, he urged the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to conduct a free, fair and credible elections on Saturday, to allow the electorates decide their leaders.
