Abuja, Nigeria — Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Barr. Nyesom Wike, has revealed a significant investment in healthcare for the nation’s capital, with a ₦25 billion allocation earmarked in the 2025 capital budget. The announcement came on Thursday during the flag-off of the construction of Arterial Road N1, a project Wike says is part of a broader plan to transform Abuja into a world-class city.

Speaking at the ceremony, Wike emphasized that the massive infrastructure projects underway are not for personal gain but are designed to spur economic growth and improve the welfare of residents. “This road is not my road, it’s not the Minister’s road, it’s for the people of Abuja. By the time we develop all these roads, Abuja will be competing with other cities in the world,” he declared.

A Firm Stand Against Opposition

The Minister used the platform to address critics and threats of protests over perceived neglect of other sectors. He defiantly stated that such opposition would not derail the Tinubu administration’s agenda. “Nobody will blackmail me. Nobody will stop me from doing what I think is right, and doing it at the right time. Enough is enough,” Wike said.

He further reaffirmed his readiness to confront vested interests opposing his reforms. “They will fight me, but I am fully prepared. I will do things right because Mr. President has taken it upon himself to change the narrative as far as Abuja is concerned,” he added.

The flag-off ceremony was attended by government officials, contractors, community leaders, and residents. Acting Head of Service of the FCTA, Mrs. Nancy Sabanti Nathan, praised Wike’s “visionary leadership” and “tireless effort” in modernizing the capital’s infrastructure. The event concluded with a call for collaboration to ensure the timely completion of the project.
