WAI Brigade Rivers State Advocates Civic Re-orientation; Honours Community Leaders

The State Commander of WAI Brigade, Commander Dike Alabo Awhayi has emphasized the importance of collaboration between security-oriented civic institutions and host communities in promoting social order, patriotism, and good citizenship. He commended the people of Bonny, an Island community in Rivers State, Nigeria for their continued support and acknowledged the strategic importance of Bonny Island in national development.

Speaking in Bonny Island, at an event to boost the operational capacity and visibility of the organisation across the state, he highlighted the need for community partnership and civic engagement to drive sustainable development and security. His message underscored the Brigade’s broader commitment to environmental responsibility and sustainable community development.

The WAI Brigade has taken a significant step to boost its operational capabilities with the launch of operational vehicles fund, aimed at enhancing efficiency, visibility, and response capacity within the area. This initiative is expected to complement efforts in community security and civic education, further solidifying the Brigade’s presence in Bonny and other parts of the State.

The event also recognized the outstanding contributions of community leaders, including HRH Engr. Dr. Dagogo Lambert Brown, Ama-Dabo of Finima Town, Se-Alabo Dagogo Claude Wilcox, Chairman, Bonny Chiefs Council and his wife, Dame Hon. Anengi Barasua Claude Wilcox, among others.

The WAI Brigade’s efforts have garnered support from traditional rulers, community leaders, government officials, and members of the public, who commend the Brigade for promoting discipline, civic values, and community engagement.
