PORT HARCOURT, Rivers State – July 26, 2025 – The suspended Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, has publicly celebrated the Doctor of Science (D.Sc.) Honoris Causa conferred upon the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, by the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT). The honor was bestowed during the university’s 35th Convocation Ceremony and 50th Anniversary Celebration.
In a statement signed on behalf of his family and the people of Rivers State on Saturday, Governor Fubara described the recognition as both timely and richly deserved, acknowledging Wike’s extensive legacy of service. This includes his impactful two terms as Rivers State Governor and his current role as an FCT Minister.
Fubara lauded his predecessor as a “transformational and visionary leader” whose significant strides in governance and development continue to profoundly shape Nigeria’s future.

He emphasized that Wike’s dedicated work has “uplifted countless lives and inspired renewed faith in leadership.” According to Fubara, “It is only fitting that your alma mater honours you for your outstanding dedication and the strategic role you continue to play in shaping Nigeria’s future.”
Governor Fubara expressed immense pride in Wike’s achievement and extended warm congratulations, wishing him continued and even greater accomplishments in the years ahead.
