Two former Governors Ada George, Kalio declare support for APC, Cole

Former Governor of Rivers State, Rufus Ada George has thrown his weight behind the decision of the All Progressives Congress, APC, to field a riverine candidate for Governorship in Rivers State.

Ada George who led a high powered delegation to the APC South South zonal Secretariat, on a solidarity visit to declare support for their kinsman, Dave Okumgba, on his election as the APC south south Zonal Secretary, said he was elated at the decision to produce a riverine governor, because the people have been marginalised for too long.

On his part, a former Governor of Yobe State, Group Captain Kalio, assured the APC, of the readiness of Okirikans to support the candidature of Tonye Cole, to ensure victory during the general elections.

A three time member of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Chief James Fuayefika, commended the zonal Secretary for his efforts at uniting the party in Okirika.

Leader of the Party in Okirika, David Alabere, admonished party men and women to set aside any misgivings and work for the success of the party.

He said the time has come for APC to vote out the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, led state government .

In his response, the APC South South Zonal Secretary, Dave Okumgba, commended the leaders for their resolve to mobilize support for APC in the state and stressed the need for members of the party to preach the message of change to okirikans and other ethnic groups.

He urged the leaders to support the power rotation stance of the party, which according to him has led to the emergence of a riverine candidate and will guarantee an Okirika Governorship someday.

Bar. Tamuno Williams, Dame Clarabel Abam, Allison Anderson, Godwin Tamuno, Admiral Fingesi , Tam George and Okirika APC LGA Executive members were amongst top dignitaries who visited the APC South South Zonal office at 46A Orugbom crescent GRA phase 2, Rivers State, on Wednesday, October 17, 2018.
