The Rivers State House of Assembly Tribunal sitting in Abuja has upheld the election of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for Omuma State Constituency in the Rivers State House of Assembly , Hon. Kelechi Nwogu.
In a judgment delivered by the Chairman of the Tribunal, Justice Ali Garba stated that Kelechi Nwogu was elected based on majority of valid votes cast and dismissed the petition filed by the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Hon. Leo Anyanwu on the premise that the Petitioner failed to file for pre-hearing conference.
According to the Tribunal, the petition was frivolous and incompetent as it was not properly before the court.
Justice Ali Garba declared that the Tribunal lacked the jurisdiction to hear the matter due to defects in the petition.
