A former governorship aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State, Soalabo West, has been killed by suspected herdsmen.
The politician who is also a lawyer was allegedly abducted outside his farm in Port Harcourt, the state capital, on March 7, and two days into his abduction, he was said to establish contact with his family wherein the kidnappers, demanded a N30 million ransom.
A family source said when the contact with it kidnappers was made, it was reportedly established that they were herdsmen.
Africa update gathered that he ransom was reviewed downward to N2.5 million, but the ex-guber aspirant was killed by his captors after they allegedly failed to get the sum, having being intercepted by the police while wanting to pick up the ransom.
This sad news is coming on the heels of renewed calls for the unconditional release of west who is a legal practitioner.
Few days ago, at a press conference in Port Harcourt , the Chairman of the Nigeria Bar Association, NBA, Rivers State Branch, Sylvester Adaka, had pleaded with West’s abductors to set him free.
