- The Special Adviser on Trade and Investments, Hon. (Mrs) Owanari Harry has commiserated Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri following the death of the Amananaowei of Ofoni Federated Community in Sagbama Local Government Area of the state, Chief Auditor Onakpohor in a fatal bus accident on Friday.
In a heartfelt condolence message, she also sympathized with the Deputy Governor, Senator Lawrence
Ewhrudjakpo, a son of Ofoni, the family of the deceased, the people of the community, Sagbama LGA and Bayelsans at large over the sad incident.
She equally condoled the immediate past governor and Senator representing Bayelsa West Senetorial District in the National Assembly, Chief Seriake Dickson, who the late paramount ruler was accompanying as part of a delegation on a New Year visit to Governor Diri at his Sampou country home in Kolokuma/Opokuma LGA.
The fatal accident that claimed the life of Chief Onakpohor occurred along the Sagbama/Ekeremor road, while twelve other traditional rulers who were also the vehicle sustained various degrees of injury in the road mishap are currently receiving treatment at the Niger Delta Teaching Hospital, Okolobiri, Yenagoa.
She said the news of the ghastly bus accident and the death of Chief Onakpohor, a revered traditional ruler in Tarakiri Clan, came to her as a rude shock, noting that he died when his fatherly counsel is still much needed by the governor, the deputy governor and his people.
The Special Adviser on Trade and Investments said information available to her indicates that the departed traditional ruler was loved, respected and revered by his people, saying during his reign as Odion, Ofoni experienced growth and development as well as peace and stability.
She further commended Governor Diri for quickly cancelling the well-anticipated event and ensuring that those involved in the accident received the best of medical care, while sympathizing and wishing them all speedy recovery.
Hon. (Mrs) Owanari, who prayed for the eternal repose of the soul of the departed traditional ruler, also asked God to grant the family he left behind and Ofoni people the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
