Sorrow, tears, blood as taskforce invades Ikoku junction in Rivers State

It was more like a scene from an action movie, as traders, motorists and passersby ran to safety when over ten Hilux trucks arrived the busy Ikoku Junction in Mile 3 axis of Port Harcourt City Local Government Area of Rivers State yesterday, to enforce the ban on street trading.

An eyewitness narrated to Africa Update how several gunshots fired into the air by the heavily armed security operatives attached to the taskforce sent shiver down the spines of people around the vicinity, triggering pandemonium which led to various degrees of injuries.

The members of the taskforce had reportedly destroyed wares sold by the street traders, while food vendors supplying meals to the construction workers at the ongoing construction site were not spared.
