Soldier allegedly kills truck driver over N200 in Rivers State

Commuters were stuck in a gridlock that lasted for several hours, yesterday morning following the blocking of the road leading to the Port Harcourt International Airport at Omagwa community in Rivers state, in protest after a soldier allegedly killed their colleague over N200.

Some truck drivers who narrated their ordeal in the hands of security operatives said the incident occurred on the night of February 19. They recalled their participation in the End SARS protest last year, when Nigerian youths took to the streets to condemn brutality against citizens in the country.

They expressed dismay that despite several protests and interventions by government at all levels, such brutality still persist. They further disclosed to Africa Update that the soldier allegedly committed the said offence knowing fully well that the goods that were being conveyed had been cleared and approved by the government.
