A lawyer and Human Rights Advocate, O. C Higher King Esq, says hoteliers should be more security conscious in the wake of recent killings across the state.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Africa Update, King stressed that the call has become imperative because the policing of lives should not be an exclusive responsibility of security operatives but a collective effort.
Stating that the directive of the State Commissioner of Police, Mustapha Dandaura, to hoteliers mandating them to install CCTV, though laudable is not realistic, due to the high cost of such gadgets and the unstable power supply in the state.
He however called on the State government to embark on the installation of CCTV at motels, brothels and other public places across the State to mitigate the financial burden such expenditure would have on the owners of such facilities, thereby fulfilling its responsibility to protect the lives and properties of her citizens.
Condemning the description of the victims of such attacks as prostitutes, King cautioned that such tags are unnecessary, as the crux of the issue is the gruesome murder of innocent ladies, who deserve the right to free movement, association and life.
