An encounter between operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS, of the Nigeria Police, Rivers State Command and suspected kidnappers has led to the killing of a kidnapper along the Emohua of the East/West Road.
Confirming the incident to newsmen, the Public Relations Officer, DSP Nnamdi Omoni said “The SARS were on their routine patrol of communities in Emohua when a group Deygbam cult boys engaged our men and of course they had to respond.
“In the course of the shooting one of their men was fatally wounded and our man was also shot. He was taken to UPTH.
A SARS official, Sergeant Gift Okoroma who was also hit in the cross fire is now in the hospital. Meanwhile Omoni has condemned a protest by some residents of the Community, who claim that the deceased was not a cult member but a commercial taxi driver.
