The Special Assistant to the Senate President on Youth and Student Matters, Mr. Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere, has been arrested and detained by operatives of the Department of State Services on Monday following a petition by the Minister of Youths and Sports Development Mr. Solomon Dalung.
It was gathered that trouble started when the Board of the National Youth Council of NIgeria (NYCN) ordered the indefinite suspension of the Minizter.
Disclosing the information to journalists in Abuja on Tuesday, Obinna Ikeagwuonu said in his statement that his brother had hinted of an invitation from the Assistant Director of Internal Security concerning a petition against him and was shocked that since his brother honored the invitation, attempts by family members, his physician and lawyer to see him have been unfruitful
He stressed that Nigerian youths have called to express their displeasure over the arrest and detention of the President of Nigeria youth council at the headquarters of the Department of State Services and called on President Muhammadu Buhari to urgently intervene and also sack Dalung .
