Saraki succumbs to pressure

The Senate President, Bukola Saraki may have finally addressed the issue of factionalism, following the reconstitution of the senate committees.

Senator Saraki succumbed to the condition given by the unity forum senators, who had insisted that peace would only return to the troubled senate, when senate committees were reconstituted.

He had announced shortly before the senate adjourned on Thursday, appointment of key members of the unity forum Senators as leaders of various senate committees.

Those appointed include, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, who was previously in charge of the committee on women affairs, was appointed chairperson of the committee on Environment and Senator Kabiru Marafa left the chairmanship of the Committee on National Population to chair  the Petroleum (downstream) Committee.

While Suleiman Hukunyi, another critic of the senate president, is now in charge of the Committee on National Identity.
