Routes of diversion: Sector Commamder FRSC Rivers urges motorists on strict adherence

The Sector Commander FRSC Rivers State Sector Command, Corps Commander Salisu Umar Galadunci, has urged motorists in the state to adhere to the directives of the Ministry of Works, to reduce gridlock during the period of the closure of some major roads in the state.

According to a statement signed by the Route Commander Public Education officer for the Sector, Michael S. John, and made available to Africa Update on July 7, the call has become imperative considering the period of the closure. The statement reads: Following the Rivers State Government’s Special Announcement on the closure of Old Aba road by Rumuogba flyover and at Rumuibewe Housing Estate junction on new Aba road for two Months from 5th July, 2020 to 4th September, 2020, the Sector Commander FRSC Rivers State Sector Command Corps Commander Salisu Umar Galadunci rss, calls on all motorists to adhere strictly to planned routes of diversion of traffic as provided for by the Ministry of Works. For the purpose of emphasis the route of diversion for all motorists are listed below:

Divert chat: Heavy duty and smaller vehicles from old Aba road to pass through Rumuogba-Woji road to YKC junction then turn left on Woji-Elelenwo road and turn left on Elelenwo-Akpajo road to get back to Port-Harcourt-Aba Express road. Smaller vehicles can navigate from railway through Rumuibekwe Housing Estate to New Aba road. Heavy duty and smaller vehicles from oil mill should divert at Rumuokwurusi-Elelenwo- Akpajo road to woji-Elelenwo road big roundabout turn right to get to YKC through Woji to Rumuogba junction and connect Aba road. Smaller vehicles can navigate through Rumuibekwe Housing Estate to Woji road to old Aba road.

The Sector Commander urged all motorists to drive patiently, share the road with other road users, avoid wrong parking to enhance free flow of traffic on the routes and avoid lane hopping as these wrong actions will jeopardize efforts of road traffic managers. Corps Commander Salisu Umar Galadunci further called on business owners and offices to ensure that their business activities do not hinder the flow of traffic and ensure that their vehicles and those of their clients are parked responsibly without impeding the movement and flow of vehicles along the route of diversion. Lastly, the Sector Commander has created traffic control points along the stretch of the route, he urged all road users to cooperate with the Men as their mandate is to easy of flow of traffic and ensure motorists reach their destination in good time. He wished all road users safe driving as they go about their normal businesses.
