All is now set for the visit of Rotary International World Wide President, Barry Rassin in Nigeria next week.
The president of Rotary club of cosmopolitan, Ibim Semenitari said the district 9141 is among the four districts the Rotary president will be visiting in Nigeria.
Ibim Semenitari said during the visit, the world president of the club will visit President Muhammadu Buhari to commend efforts of the Federal Government in the fight against polio.
“He is coming into Nigeria, he will met with the President, President Muhammadu Buhari to commend the country’s efforts in polio”.
“Nigeria has made significant progress with regards the fight against polio. Nigeria has been in the full in the fight against polio’.
” Nigeria has gone for two years without polio and by the end of the third year, we will be certified polio free. But now, we are still listed as one of the polio endemic countries along with Afghanistan and Pakistan”.
By August next year, we should be able to be declared polio free”, Ibim stated.
She further noted that the 23 Rotary clubs in Port Harcourt are now taking steps to assist in the fight against soot.
She said the club as a part of its humanitarian programme will be planting trees, and that will help absorb the soot and keep the environment clean.
