As Rivers State Government moves to stop street trading, some traders at waterlines and Ikoku junction have accused the community in Port Harcourt city and some staff of Ministry of Urban Development of taking monies from them as trade permit.

The traders also said left for them alone, they would not trade by the roadside under the high tension wire but they resort to street trading due to the high cost of renting shops in Port Harcourt.

They called on the state government to provide local shops to enable them stop street trading.
